Because I will be gone and likely will forget what is posted and what is not, I'm finishing the set... Love your poetry and should be able to comment next week... Gar

8. At the Lake Pavilion

Our host
offers spiced wine
with peony garnish.
We taste, set the glass down, and smile
thank you.

9. The Cornel Grove

Cups carved,
he waits for his
tipsy guests to depart;
their laughter shakes pink blooms from a
dogwood.

10. South Hill

The trip
will be lengthy
and grueling, taking us
to places where only strangers want
to live.

11. Huazi Ridge

Autumn’s
winged changelings may
convince me to not care
if Spring returns with its brilliant
colors.

12. Temple-Tree Path

Laurel
muffling the monk’s
cries, we don’t know he’s lost.
Sweep the court, at least it shall greet
him fresh.

13. Fine Apricot Lodge

Scented
with lavender
and sage, our modest home
perfect to wait out storm and drought
alike.

14. Lacquer Tree Garden

He dreamed
of butterflies,
rare flowers and pollen,
only to wake as if always
a man.

15. White Rock Shoals

Cattails
spread in the wind,
those that fall on silk die,
those that ride high, provide your new
pillow

16. Lake Yi

A flute
bids you god speed,
the strings on my guitar
broken, I turn away as clouds
dance by.

17. Waves of Willow Trees

Clasping
like young willows,
we are loath to let go
even as your boat whistles
“aboard.”

18. North Hill

Alone
above the lake,
I stand and imagine
if I see your tears through the thick
tree-tops

19. Stream of Powdered Gold

Riding
a chariot,
the emperor’s consort
complains the phoenix slower than
the worm.

20. Pepper Tree Garden

Skylarks
sing of long dead
goddesses and deposed
princes, journey toasted before
we sleep.

These are beautiful Gary.. especially 'Lacquer Tree Garden', 'White Rock Shoals', 'Waves of Willow Trees' and 'North Hill'.

I don't know what you think, but I wouldn't mind seeing 1-7 at the beginning so I could read 1-20 as a whole work.

A very fine read, thanks.

What a sparkling set of gems you have here, Mr. B. My favorite kept changing all the way through because I kept running into more and more that I liked. Like you say to everyone else, be proud! *smile*

Gary, enjoyed them all. Can't pick a favorite. Wish there were more than 20.
